Roof rack/cycle carrier for Coupe

Post by A320_phill » Mon Oct 19, 2015 3:37 pm

Having searched the forum I came across a guy who managed to fit a roof rack for his bikes to his coupe.

He seems to have been inactive on the Forum the past few months and there is not much detail regarding the parts he used to do this.

Has anyone had any breakthroughs with using a roof mounted bike rack on their coupe?

I have found the Thule 754 system with bars which MAY fit, but theres is no specific mount kit for the z4.

Thanks!

I emailed him and he sent me some info about it and a few close up pictures.

You are correct, there is no official foot mount system, but he found one that worked.

I will try and dig it out and upload it. PM me if I forget as I'm on my mobile at present.

Think that was Jonnymito ( he seems to have drifted away) who had rigged up a Thule rack that was designed for another brand - Subarau I think . .

Saris Bones works on the coupe. I used to use one and works perfectly.

I think he did say in a thread somewhere which foot back he used. I will try and dig it out. I think he has used the square bar, but the aero one would also work, and probably look a bit better and create less drag.

It looks a decent setup though

Just found the PM from him.

He said he used the 754 foot pack with the 99 impreza adaptor connectors. He did have to make a small adjustment on these to increase the angle a bit so they went into the window surround little bit further but it was a pair of pliers that he used.

Hi!

New to the forum, just bought a 06 z4 coupe and looking to fit a roof rack to it.
Do you still have the Pictures of the Thule setup?

Kind regards
