Re: Carbon leather trim
sub'd for updates, looking forward to pics.
I'm Looking for viable option to fix my scratched aluminium dash. Was going to get it 3M 1080 brushed aluminium vinyl wrapped, but the guy who would do it said they couldn't guarantee the contours of the scratch wouldn't show through so they didn't recommend doing it unless the dash scratch was sanded/filled to make a perfect surface. Unfortunately that means if I didn't like the vinyl wrap, I couldn't go back to the original Aluminium underneath.

I hate the aluminium trim.
I'd either sand , fill and get the trim sprayed or dipped piano black or buy some piano black trim on ebay (very difficult to find pristine condition)
My preference is the piano trim looks better than the carbon leather

Scratches, fingerprints, scuffs, smudges - it'd do my head in seeing them.
(actually I don't 'hate' it. It looks very cool, but just not practical for me)

They are all valid points.
I have a microfiber cloth in my car to wipe all the shinies down haha

The big scratch on my Aluminium dash drives me bonkers - having piano black trim would probably just make my head explode...nightyard wrote: They are all valid points.

Back on topic, definitely looking forward to how the leather trimmed dash looks

Yours has the CF though? Benefit of the M (unless some unusual owner has de-specced / flimpered it).Scaramanga wrote:Subscribed! Interested to see how this goes.

Carbon leather trim - Update - dropped off at the trimmers
Well I dropped my trim off at the trimmers yesterday.
After looking at his selection of leather I have opted to go with black leather and a red stitch to match the seats. (poll decided the stitch colour)
I have seen a lot of dashes wrapped in the carbon effect leather and thought this will be a little more unique.
I really hope I have done the right thing, will find out Friday when I collect the completed dash.
Someone reassure me I have made a good decision lol

Thanks Austin,
Full pics will be added next Friday night when I get the car back together If it goes back together with the extra thickness of the leather now on the panels
