How to remove kidney grills?

Post by nb67 » Sat Mar 05, 2016 9:17 pm

I have a new bonnet badge to attach but I need access to it's underneath so that I can fix the securing tabs to it.

How do I get access to do this. It looks like if I removed a kidney grill then I could get my hand in to do the job but I can't see how to remove the kidney grills.

Any ideas peeps?

I did try that but they didn't 'pop' out straight away so thought they may have clips that needed some help.

Thx buddy, I'll try with a bit more force tomorrow.

Does it matter which way you pull them? e:g best to pull from the top or from the bottom?

I remove them by gently pulling down whilst sliding a butter knife along the top edge until you feel the clip then gently lever with a cloth between knife & paintwork . They should pop out a treat

Cracking advice as usual.

I have trim removal tools so will try with the thinnest one along the top edge while pulling the grill out.

No tools required. With two hands get hold of the bottom of the slats and firmly push upwards whilst pulling the lower edge outwards and the grille will come out easily.

This is useful advice for fitting the Ram air scoops many of us are about to receive :)

The grills as far as i know have the same clip fitments on top & bottom :?
if OEM fit they can be difficult to lever out the first time ,if rep grills or been out previously they do come out easier i found

Superb advice lads, thank you.

Popped out easily with a bit more effort and front badge fitted so easily afterwards.
