Had a look on ebay but cant seem to see any that look like the ones I've seen posted on other threads. Trip to BMW/Mini dealer?

I got mine from a BMW dealership, £40 Inc VAT. If i can find the part No i will post it on here. There are plenty of threads about this, take a look in the how to section.

ditto.. 10mins to fit. great thread in the how-to section.

you'll find the vat decrease has got it down to about £39.15 or something..

Yes 10mins to fit, however 6 hours to remove the vents :poke:

Whilst were here - can somebody answer the following question accuatly - as ive read ZZZZ posts and its all over the place

"Ca you fit the AUX in conjunction with the CD CHANGER and have them both working"

And which is the best "guide" to follow for install?

This one: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1483

Thanks

Got mine from the dealer too.

jamiez - Yes you can have AUX and CD changer both working and yes that is a good thread :D

The confusion over the merging pins etc seems to only occur if you have the factory bluetooth not CD changer as I'd assumed while doing mine...

Yeah read the thread lol! Long and short of it is you can have the factory bluetooth, CD changer and AUX all working - I do. It simply complicates the install slightly meaning you have to merge the pins in one of the plugs at the back of the radio  Just take your time and you should be fine :D

Why not make your own aux input, all you need is some wire, a mountable mini jack input and a pc fan connecter.

Cool - ive got a soldering iron somewhere also

So which wire?
Im ok with the mini jack input
And an example of a pc fan connecter would be good!

I also have the changer with the aux lead, all i had to do was plug it in the back of a spare hole in the back of the car stereo, i also have the carver amp & 10 speaker combo and the sound quality is awesome. good luck with which ever method you try.

You want to get your hands on a couple 4 pin fan connectors like these, one for each row of the 12 pin connector on the back of the headunit...

Then simply extend the wires and wire them to your mini jack, configure the other end so they connect to pins 3,4 and 10 on the headunit.

I did alot of searching on this topic as my aux input didnt work on my 2007 SE. The problem wasnt with the cable, my headunit just didnt detect the signal so i couldnt select aux input, then i came across the wiring diagram for the aux input...

I had to add the 2 capacitors and resistor so i made a small extension with these and now it works perfect.

0.22 F capacitor? Is that right? Seems a tad large... and trying to find a 4-pin fan connector is proving interesting! Perhaps a floppy disk drive power connector will suffice? Looks similar size.

You can use 220nF or 0.22uF capacitors. I got the info from here....
