seen a car, hate the wheels

Post by bluespit » Mon Aug 29, 2016 12:35 pm

OK so I'm new here but I'm looking to buy an E85 to replace my lovely E89, (long story)

I've seen a nice 3,0 SE that I like at a decent price but it has what look like aftermarket alloys (Schnitzer badge in the centre). I don't like them. they look like split rims, silver 5 spoke and 18 inch I think. The tyres are very good.

Do they have a value (one has some curb damage the others are very good) and how much would some nice replacements cost?

thanks
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

Post pics for a define answer but yeah all wheels have a value if they are straight and usable, don't let a car go for the sake of wheels- easy change for a few hundred pounds. Maybe factor into purchase price..

Hideous but seems they do have a value. Easy change for the right car.

Depends if they are reps (one piece) or original 2 piece wheels.

I wouldn't discount the car on the wheels alone though as said. Bargaining tool

https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/stunning- ... 1182707411

drives very well, tidy inside. Aircon a bit flimsy may need a regas but not really that bothered. Discs and pads look very recent. Engine pulls well, has the sound generator foams removed, very slight ticking from the injectors. Slight squeak from clutch - may be the pedal mechanism???

Inside its all there and works correctly. Seats aren't heated but not that bothered I can either fit the kit mentioned here or do without.

body wise its got a few stone chips at the front, an odd mark on the rear wheel arch where it looks like someone has lifted it! Polished very well for sale and no ripples or knocks.

Other than a service book theres no history (receipts etc)

thanks

That looks worth a visit, £4500 not bad if it's as good as it looks, I paid £6200 for mine on an 05 with 1 previous owner BMW FSH and 70k miles

Standard seats and not heated, no sat nav, halogen headlights, possibly aftermarket headlights lights. Need to change the rims.
Lots to make me pass on it.

Seems strong money for me given the lack of nav, heated seats, xenons etc?
