Standard wheel price

Post by John996 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 7:17 pm

I'm thinking of changing out my wheels but need to offset the cost with selling the old ones.
My old ones have just been fully refurb a few weeks ago and all look like this below.
What sort of price could I ask for all 4?
Thanks in advance.

Wheels only ( if they have been split / blasted & painted or powdercoated ) £300 / £350 ?
If with tyres you would need depths + brands to get a rough value but generally a decent condition used set 108s with 5-6mm part worn tyres would struggle over £500

You did ask :?
My figures were pure speculation & totally ballpark numbers , could be way out
Get 4 decent pics of the wheels & same with tyres then stick them up for what would make you happy

Didn't mean to sound ungrateful, just meant that I thought they would be worth a bit more considering how much they cost to refurb!
I didn't pay for the refurb but have the receipt!

There is no definitive value as there are too many possibles
Some 108 wheelsets may sit around for weeks or they may sell in hours
From what ive seen sell over recent months my guestimate should be pretty close give or take 10-15%

Wow. So from what you are saying it's cheaper to just bin a cruddy set of 108s and buy a good nik second hand set to replace them than get them refurbed.
Was going to get my 108s sorted in the spring, but was told for a pukka job (split etc) looking at £100 a wheel.

Hard to mentally accept they will be worth less finished than the refurb will cost.
Maybe I should look at a whole new set of rims instead.

If you bought a set of 108s for eg £125 , paid £100 a corner then put them up for sale at £525 , you "might" get your money back but i can't recall a set of refurbed 108s wheels only selling through this forum for more than £525 anytime :? & adding decent part worn tyres worth around £200 would push the set over £700 :o
So if you find a decent used set at reasonable money then yes , it could be a wiser move

That was my point, seems crazy that it's better to just buy new wheels that get your old uns refurb'd.

If that's the price, that's the price. I'm new to Z's so am trying to sponge up info, some of it unexpected!!!

Just quickly.....are my wheels 108's???

Hi, I've heard there's a firm in Birmingham that refurb these wheels properly for £20 a corner
A lot cheaper than most other companies charge!

£20 a corner!!!
I certainly won't be going there then.
Simply cannot believe a proper job can be done for that.
That cheap and I would be surprised if they do more than just mask off the tyres and attack the wheels with a rattle-can. Prob don't even take them off the car!

tis true, my best mate lives in warwickshire - i went to City powdercoating with him last week - however they were single piece wheels, but if you take the bolts out the 108s & split them with a mallet, price would be the same. They charge £20 for a bare rim per wheel & £25 if you want a tyre fitting to it & balancing.
