Z4 Front End Rebuild

Thanks to forum user kammy1975 for supplying a brand new splashguard which was hard to track down.

thanks to eBay seller Matthew Biddulph of classiccarspares2015 who's business it is to source good examples of Z4's and dismantles them for spares, he runs the cars for a few weeks to test them for any faults before dismantling with care. He also specialises in Maserati. Parts are not from accident damages cars, Unlike some breakers yards that rip parts out like a gorilla, this guys father dismantles in a workshop with care as at the end of the day it's in their interest as parts are money.

Check his eBay listings as he has a hundreds of Z4 parts at very reasonable prices and offers a very good service, parts are well packaged. He delivered all of my order due to not trusting a courier with a bonnet. Fair play to him doing a 300 mile round trip.
Not a problem, glad I could help out a fellow forum member.

Thanks for the mention of classiccarspares2015, will definitely keep my out for them in the future should the need arise.

The re-build is coming on very well as you can see from the pictures, radiators are installed and whilst they were off I overhauled all of the O rings with a M54 kit that I purchased from a guy in the USA that sourced all the correct size O rings as BMW don't supply O rings for the coolant pipes. The Engine has been run up with no leaks. I fitted a new NRF air-con condenser of which I am getting the system re-charged on Friday. Headlamps in and all working.

Its off to the body shop after Christmas for the bonnet and the new front aero bumper to be re-sprayed, and for the repair to the front wing. Makes sense to repair the front wing so the paint does not need blending into the drivers door.

Z4 Progress is coming on very well, the car is back from the body shop. front wing repaired, paint all blended in, all work done to a very high standard. Once the bumper is on and all lined up then it's done.

So many zeds (and cars in general) get scrapped for what in the right hands is minimal damage and a fairly easy repair, such a shame.

Looking good, top work!!!

I recently had to do a very similar thing on my Zed but having some trouble with the driver side headlight/bumper fitting.

Quick one, did you have any issues getting the bumper to sit flush with the headlights. Obviously not judging by the pictures but I am having real issues and it may be as simple as readjusting the headlight bolts although they seem like they are fitted pretty well.

(sorry to hijack this pal)

Cheers

Thanks for all your comments.

Pri - There is quite a bIt of adjustment on the headlights, don't forget to loosen off the top bolts on the front panel where the headlamp bracket attaches, its takes some time to get the line up done and getting the bumper clipped in at the sides takes some shoving and pushing, i lined everything up before clipping the sides of the bumper in
