Very impressive Chris, definitely helps if you're on the flat - I noticed even a very slight incline on the M way would drop the average when I did my epic south coast run to collect the hardtop. Plus I was going a little bit faster than 60 but still managed 44mpg average over 550 miles

What was ur average speed on that trip, if known? Have a similar trip planned for tomorrow and will be mostly mway. Will take it up to a frightening 65mph this time, using the same driving style and see whats achievable...

Don't know my average - I was restricted to 50 on long sections of M way, and kept it to 70 max on way down, but coming back I got a bit fed up and pushed it up to 80 although I never stepped on the loud pedal.

No, and I hope I never do! That was what my previous 123d was for, not my Z!

I'm running on fumes if I manage 400 miles in the Z - I think I get bored too easily.

Bloody Norah,

The best I ever achieved was I think just on 40 on a run up the M6 back to Scouse Land. I drove as though I was wearing a dog collar (bu that's none of your business  ).

You are making me jealous , My sister lived in The Netherlands for over 10 years I used to love my visits to Cloggy Land, damned civilized don't yer know (a bit mad behind the wheel mind).

I feel like I have accidentally joined a Hybrid Car forum where the only thing talked about is economy, 'cos there is no point talking performance. They don't have any.

Having said that, I am wondering if my auto was a wise choice, best I've seen is 35mpg, and i do start to think about using the more economical wife's car sometimes.

Still, bit of sun and that will all change!

Why on earth did you buy it then ?

Anyway glad to hear that your wife is more economical :D

They're more than a 'bit mad behind the wheel' i'd suggest. I find dutch drivers an absolute pita generally and especially if ur doing 60mph on the motorway. Its almost as if ur inconvening them somehow. I even had someone flashing me, presumably to speed up a bit, cos she was blocked in behind me by traffic overtaking on a two lane stretch and she didnt have the balls to indicate out into lane 2 and overtake, lol. My response; i slowed down just a liiiiddle bit more. Then i could see steam coming out of her nostrils
Bonkers.

'Cos I wanted an auto. Just been for a drive and realised I was right and I have decided that that additional 5mpg or so is not worth it for me, I didn't buy it for economy!

Particularly as my wife is so economical as well.
