Wind deflector woes!
So, turns out I am an idiot. Bought a wind deflector for my zed as I had the brackets on the roll bars and in the boot lid. Got it pretty cheap, £30 from eBay. It was damaged, had a crack on the plastic and a pretty bad glue job but the mesh was A1. Thought I'd remove the old glue which was pretty stubborn. So to speed things up got the dremal out which was working a treat until......I slipped! put a hole in the mesh!!
About half the size of a 5p piece! Got the wife to sew it up but obviously it doesn't look perfect. Anyway I've just done a pretty sterling epoxy job to stiffen the crack up. Once that's hardened up I'll sand it back with some wet and dry to smooth it out.
That being said I'll probably rarely use it only when the wife complains that it's too windy but still for £30 it's still a winner even if I am a bell end! Just wanted to vent my pain! Lol

Hi, it's possible to replace the mesh-it's been done before & not so difficult if I remember

I think I found the tread on it. Don't think the mesh that was bought is available still. I'll have gander, make it look a bit tidyier and have a crack in the summer. For £30 for a small project I'm still happy even if I did have a mishap!

Wind deflector woes!
Right, well, apart from my little mishap, is stripped the old glue that was apart from messy, not very good as it was not rigid at all.
So I've epoxy'd the break, sanded down slightly, and so it doesn't look unsightly I've found a small scrap of black wrap. Now it's rock solid and not flimsy.
When I have more time I'll sand it a little more smoother, and fully wrap it somehow. For now it'll do, more of a job for when the summer/when I can be bothered!
But for £30 I really can't complain! I know it's not a perfect job, but when I have more time it should look pretty good. The camera makes the stitched hole look worse than it is, but again replacing the mesh is another job if I can be arsed.
It'll prob be used once in a while to keep the wife happy. Happy wife = happy life

This actually doesn't look too bad at all, especially considering the bargain basement price you paid for this. Nobody will ever notice the slight imperfection when you have this fitted to the car and are driving about. I say don't worry about it and just enjoy!

Looks like a good repair you've done there
I've replaced the mesh in mine a couple of times as wasn't happy with the first mesh I brought.
I've now used some fly screen mesh which I picked up from eBay and it's as close to OEM as I could find, easy job takes about ten minutes.
