Decided to strip and rebuild the VANOS with new seals -

I followed Mike's advice to drop the bottom nut off both engine mounts and used a gearbox jack to pump the engine up 100mm. Surprisingly it went back down straight into the subframe after without any fiddling. The VANOS itself is a fiddly job but fairly straightforward if you follow the Beisan thread and some of the tips here.

Bought a Karcher Pressure Washer from Wickes for £149 (half price) which i can highly recommend. I got really annoyed the last time i went to the hand car wash and the guys there left greasy streaks all over my car. Bloody terrible job. So i gave it a good clean today. New brakes and disks on Tuesday. Yay!!

Off for a drive now to get it dirty again!

Got up ready to go to the Newlands Corner meet and looked out the window.

Car looked filthy - I couldn't take it like that, so out came the car wash kit!

Better late and clean than early and dirty - well with cars anyway!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Had to nip to collect my squeeze from Birmingham airport so spent the journey trying the multi adjustments on my new seats.....finally getting the perfect seating position. Hope the memory works as it took me about 50 miles to perfect that one
