What have you done to your car today?
Upgraded my disa valve with the i6 automotive kit. Took less than 30 mins and my car no longer sounds like a diesel!

What have you done to your car today?
Decided it would be the perfect opportunity to re-bond with the zed after yesterdays' road rage debacle.
So off down to the DIY garage to rent a lift for a couple of hours in order to do the gearbox and diff oil changes and do a coolant flush and a general checkover. Been waiting for an undertray to arrive from Germany so I could get everything in one go but as I'm still waiting for it decided to forfeit this as I'm still a bit raw from yesterday and thought it would be a good psychological move.
So, on getting the car up on the lift quickly discovered that my diff has a drain plug! was led to believe that it wouldnt and that i'd have to use my groovy new oil sucker pump to suck out the existing oil from the inlet hole. So that was a lot easier than anticipated - phew!
Diff inlet bolt a bit surface corroded but came free no problem: The 14mm hex bolt everyone was warning me about was a doddle to get off before draining. HAd the bits n pieces and prepared with a few squirts of good old WD so it came off no worries. Don't know what all the fuss was about! The MEYLE belts I put on when I did the stat and waterpump job still holding up well and look brand new. Only regret was not renewing the coolant at the same time! doh Nice shiny new drain plug on the gearbox. Hoping not to see any seepage..... While letting both gearbox and diff drain I took the opportunity to drain out the coolant and maybe worringly only managed to drain just over 5 litres. I thought cooling system capacity was 8 litres??
Did the whole park on a slope thing by getting the car lower at the front using the lift, left for 20 mins to drain and came back to measure a lot less than I thought would come out. Refilling confirmed this when I used only one of the two 5L bottle of Kroon coolant I bought. Should I be concerned? Oh well, will check level tomorrow and top up as/if required.....
All in all, it was a nice opportunity to relinquish any doubts I had from yesterday about owning/driving an 'idiot magnet' and a nice run in the country post-job confirmed this.
Can't say I noticed a huge difference in smoothness of the gearbox - maybe mine was fine to begin with. But for peace of mind at least I know there's some nice fresh oils swimming around the zeds mechanical bits
Happy days are here again
