What have you done to your car today?
My wife was away today so I decided to take my other lady out for a valentines lunch. We headed up Stanhope/Alston to Hartside-Cafe with plenty snow on road sides.
Unfortunately the cafe was closed so about turn and do reverse of the National route to Middleton-Teesdale and the open tea rooms.
What a variation in temp from 1.5 to 4degs.
The old lady still enjoyed herself and loved the big bath when we got home.

What have you done to your car today?
Recently bought this 2003 Z4 Roadster from a couple who did not take care of it. Literally stole the car and intend to give it a new life. Installed new wheels and tires today. Just love them. They are 18 inch a ride so much better then the stock 16's. Have ordered a Reiger full body kit, front air dam, rear diffuser and side skirts. Brakes coming this week as well. Owned a Z3 back in 2002 and enjoyed it for 5 years. Always wanted a Z4 and now it's in my hands. Love the way it drives and performs. I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and the mountain roads here are perfect for those drives you take just to feel the road beneath your wheels. Will post the changes as they happen. Great to be in a group that shares this passion.

What have you done to your car today?
Hi guys .
Well yesterday I got up early to set about the suspension out on my car , wishbones , lollipops, f anti roll bushes , front drop links , rear coil springs .
Then realised with a bad back I wasn't really up to doing this .
Contacted my local garage and they managed to get it strait in , all fitted for just over £200 .
Got my car back and decided to give it a wash and polish n wax

Hi and Welcome! Sounds like you've got lots of plans for the new car! Why don't you start your own thread in the Newbie section? Link here. Always nice to see the progression on a project thread!Zziipp wrote:Recently bought this 2003 Z4 Roadster from a couple who did not take care of it. I sprayed some Plastidip onto a pair of gloss black grills that I got from ebay for £20. (The gloss finish looks proper gash on my light blue Zed.) Gave them 4 coats over the day, now in the garage drying overnight. Will have a butchers tomorrow morning and see how they look on the car.
Also gave the car a 3 hour detail for good measure and I pulled out one of the foam bungs in the sound generator - which is probably the best free upgrade ever. Clever idea to design that into the induction system, now my sports car sounds much more like a sports car.

Wow, that's proper low milage.Z4MO wrote:Gone in for an oil service. 330 miles since it had insp 2 service 12 months ago
And there's me questioning the worth of maintaining a Zed to do 3000 miles a year.

Hi MACK. It's a 2.2i 2005. The lights were in their hole in the panel above both footwell's. Came across them by accident whilst cleaning. Thought bulbs had gone. Dropped the lights out and not connected. Apparently the car should have the plugs on the loom tucked away somewhere. Had all covers off several times and carpet back. No wires or plugs.MACK wrote:Just curious, what model do you have? I have previously assumed all zeds would have something as basic as foot well lights, clearly this is not the case? If so that's really pathetic on BMW's part! Can't believe they're not standard on all models.Cookie wrote:After 18 months searching for the wires to connect my footwell lights, no wires found. So decided to wire them from scratch taking supply from centre cabin light. Switch on with doors and centre light switch and fades out a treat. Whilst I had trim and covers removed, fitted cruise control stork and ran all wires of loom to their respective places before refitting covers. Next weekend will be battery disconnection and final connections. Ran out of daylight today.
After that need to book a trip up North to get roof motor relocated and cruise control a try out at the same time.

Stretched my technical skills!
Swapped the boot light for an LED one so I can actually see what is in it, then fitted new dust caps with BMW logo.
Should sleep well tonight - I'm worn out!

Does seem rather pathetic of BMW to install all the kit but deliberately disable it! At the end of the day your car was north of £20k 10 years ago not a cheap car even at today's prices.Cookie wrote:Hi MACK. It's a 2.2i 2005.
