Thanks G600 , I saw that & gave it a right tug . Didn't seem to do anything except leave a load of string exposed. Anyhoo, went back inside & levered a little with a plastic thingy & ìt opened . Still can't open it with the button so I guess something is broken. Any clues?G600 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2017 9:24 pmIt's a black plastic disc on the carpet, looks like a big button.oldgitdave wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2017 7:30 pm Tried to get the centre storage compartment between the seat backs open again & failed miserably Any advise greatly appreciated here guys! 2004 reg E85 but doesn't seem to have the release in the boot, unless it's behind the bulkhead carpet?

Replaced rear centre brake light on the boot. Old one had developed a crack in the centre. Fairly easy but you need an 8mm box spanner to get on the 3 nuts after removing a couple of bits of trim.
Also started paying attention to the old CF badges I had put on a few years back which were faded. For the 82mm side roundels, levered the old stuck on ones off and fitted new stuck on ones. Boot easy with a whole new badge. Bonnet - waiting for a new stick on to replace the old one with.
Amazing how long all this fiddling takes!

Drove it just over 200 miles home from Cheshire.
Should have been a pleasure, but within minutes I was on the f*cked-up M6 from J20 all the way to J14 (I crawled along the A34 to J14 instead) then the M5 from J1 to J2 had a 30 limit, and so it went on!
But on the clear bits it was still fantastic!
(Should have done what I usually do - leave after 7 pm.)

Gearbox oil changed at the weekend, near see through new oil replaced a dark grey sludge of the old stuff!
Gear shift is noticeably improved, much smoother although some of that mechanical clunk is still there (though let's be honest, we wouldn't want to lose that character! )
Well worth the £17 oil cost and £8 for two new plugs from Sopers
Also removed the old, flaking black plastidip from the front grille that a previous owner sprayed. I liked the black internals to it with the chrome surround, but it looked very patchy with some bits fallen off so it was time for it to go!

Washed clean and started to clay bar whole car, did not get it finished but its tucked up in the garage to be finished at weekend. Bit nervous about clay bar on the bonnet with such a big surface. Cannot believe the difference in the finish though.

Had a play with Carly, and I am much happier now! Some things that were turned off seemed daft, such as one touch windows, flash indicators on lock and unlock etc.
Also had some random fault codes stored such as hifi system failures, when its all working fine. Cleared and all gone, except the PDC fault which tells me its the far right sensor thats failed... a job for another day!

Mike, put a mirrored bulb in to complete the look. Or is there a LED that would fit ?Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:25 pm Gone from these;

Think it would have to be a mirrored one as led would flash white?patriot66 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:40 pmMike, put a mirrored bulb in to complete the look. Or is there a LED that would fit ?Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:25 pm Gone from these;

I've got mirrored bulbs in mine but a clear LED that lights up orange/amber would be brighter if such a thing is available.

Removed the tire and yanked out that pesky Halo/Angel eye/DRL holder. Went to town with the dremel and bored a small hole so I could get the little bulb out.
Ran down to the local auto store for the LED replacements not caring if it still tossed a warning light up on the dash. Told they don't have and cant get so ordered 2 online.

God saw me fit enough to drive it. It's my responsibility to drive it the way its meant to be drove. (All Roads Open.) Mods and fixes are mounting and I don't care, as it will be drove come hell or high water.

Where you based mate? I took mine off a while ago and was able to operate it without pushing the tab. You've probably got a spring or something broken in the centre console bit.oldgitdave wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2017 10:24 pmThanks G600 , I saw that & gave it a right tug .
