My Red Zed thread

Post by IRD » Sat Jun 24, 2017 5:33 pm

Really enjoyed reading this having had my car for six weeks or so. Great mods to improve your car which is my favourite colour. So far I have bought new wheels from a forum member and fitted Goodyear Eagles. Ducklakeview moved my roof motor and last week I had front and rear parking sensors fitted. Tomorrow I'm collecting some fully electric sports seats from Milton Keynes. Nearly forgot the Steering wheel I bought from Dietcokeman and Royals recovered. Next job could be to improve the lights. I don't think I could justify a respray to red!

Cheers mate, I'm actually going for the silver 224s and grilles for summer (always wanted a set) then going back to the black Style 32s, grilles and hard top in winter

Cheers Vanne,
The style 32s will reappear in the winter - glad you like my thread, thanks :)

Thank for the compliments pal
Looks like you're no stranger to Zeds  I'm guessing the M sports seat are off Chris - they sound like minters, post up some pics once they're in.
I like the mods you've done so far, interesting getting the front parking sensors - understandable as that hood goes on forever doesn't it.
Not sure what alloys you went for, but good choice on the rubber

Nice switch up for for summer with the grilles as well...does that mean you're going to spray the hoops back to silver as well. ;)

Front Parking Sensors: sometimes 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' drives the Z. Need I say more?
The seats are from Chris. and he promises me they are mint. I will post some pictures once they are in place. The wheels I fitted are 108s. I like the look of them but having read other members comments about the problems I'll probably look for something else when they start to look tatty.

Do you know if the wiring harness you used to connect your seats is still available?
I am having the same issues as you had. I thought my 2005 car would be pre-wired but unfortunately it isn't.

Kind Regards

Hi,
FishyDave sourced the looms from the USA - I think they were X3 looms. He then matched them to the Z4.
I'm not sure if he bought one or two extra. Your only other choice is to find one from a breakers, but I found that impossible because they fly out with the M Seats.
As Mark has mentioned the full details are earlier in this thread :

There are several threads detailing what a PITA it was to swap from standard manual non-heated seats to M heated electric ones in a face-lift Zed :headbang: – summary here:

Thanks Mark and Marlon. It looks as though this is going to prove a bit of a problem. But I'll keep looking and I'll try and get in touch with FishyDave.

Looks like you'll beat me to the fit - mine are sitting in Sydney waiting to see if my brother can get them refurb'd there, or if it's better to ship them to me and I get them done here. This has been a long journey (224 wheels), but hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

Your thread is great read. Funny how there's always 'one more mod' that wants doing. .
Glad you got the hoops done, I'm a big fan having had mine sprayed the same colour as the car when it was in getting a panel resprayed.

Thanks enzed4,
So you're waiting for 224s too :D
Mine are due to arrive by courier Tuesday, I will post up picks once I've swapped them on. I'm sure it will be worth the wait once you get your hands on your set
