first MOT today eek

Post by bluespit » Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:11 am

first Z4 MOT at noon today, will it pass??

are those aftermarket headlights ok?, did I hear an exhaust chuff?, is the CAT working and ECU fuelling correctly?, what about the slotted brakes are they good?, the passenger seat belt hasn't been used since I've had it, is that still working. Haven't checked the lights but theres no telltale on the dashboard so they may be ok, what about the horn, do I still have washer fluid. Is there enough life left in the Vreds............

do I have MOT anxiety????

TBH, I'm quite confident just haven't MOT'd an older BMW before always had cars under 4 years old.
now I'm about to have more time I've suddenly got less toys to play with!

OP - fingers crossed, let us know

@C58 personally I'd always use an Indy, preferably an Independent BMW Specialist.

kwikfit is usually cheaper and easier to pass

I thought kwikfit were well know for conjuring up work that's not necessary? I've read plenty of horror stories :o

As above. My mate used to work for Kwikfit before he came to Ford. They used to pretend exhausts were broken and brakes needed doing and most customers would just pay without questioning them.

Ohhh the drama...

pulled off the drive, quick flick of the wipers and washers, no washers. Tank empty. Fill up the tank and drip drip drip, leaking headlight washer. nearside was leaking when I got the car back in september.

duff connector.

fixed easily but the connector was a bit fiddly, didn't check the offside and thats the one leaking now.

no time to fix, top up to the max, dash to the tester - check the washer first. OK, empty by the end of the test..

other than that passed.

I use the same chap for all of my 'old' cars as he's a classic chap and runs some very nice Austin Healeys. He understands cars rather than just swaps bits out.

Guess who's taking the bumper off this afternoon!!

all thing considered I'm a happy chappie

lovely relief, always nice to get a pass and seems like your only issue is an easy fix.

interesting info as the kwikfit or not kwikfit debate, may do it for the ease as the only bmw indy near me looks well dodgy!
