3.0si cruise control retro fit
Hi guys,
Just a heads up. I've just fitted this cruise control retro fit kit. It works as it should, stalk is factory, loom is high quality and instructions are clear! (I contacted the seller regarding the instructions and he emailed it over in a PDF)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122372356064
This post is to reassure people who might be in doubt over ordering a kit from eBay, and from another country.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to do a how to, but it took me no longer than 40 minutes to install.
Lawrence

Any details on installation - or things that you feel could be done better than the how-to/pdf ?

Scotchlocks... I prefer the BMW wiring loom with proper connectors on it.

TBH it was really clear and straightforward. He mentions cutting the wire to get through the bulkhead and take off some unnecessary length, but I didn't feel the need to. Also when working on the headlight block connector, get to this by under the dash/sheeting wheel (undo the clip securing the loom to the dash structure) as there isn't enough length through the dash aperture.Buckz wrote:bought one! thanks for sharing.

I did think that there was a blanking plate for the stalk in the steering column, but a rectangle needs to be cut through the plastic. It's made much easier by the outline being in the plastic on the outside. Plastic is soft enough. I drilled pilot holes in the corners then dremiled the straight lines. Bit of a sand/file to clean it up and it's ready to go. Stalk is secured via a sliding mechanism inside the column which is already there.

It's about the same price from Soper with the genuine loom...

The issue you will have is connectors. You will make 2 joins at the LCM, that could be done with scotch locks, BMW do some good ones. But you need the connector at the stalk and 3 or 4 pins for that along with a pin for the DME. I could make up a loom with some research but doubt it would be worth my time in the end.
