3K revs  . . . you were cruising Marlon :) There's the problem right there - you weren't ready . . .

Always impressed by those big diesel 6s - love their 'lift' but they tend to feel their weight when you hit the twisties . . .
Now Porsche flat 6 experience, 986S & 981S.
2006 Z4MR Imola Red/Imola Red, 2008 3.0si Sport Stratus Grey/Piano black, 2006 2.0I Sport Silver Grey Facelift. MX5, TVR Chimaera, many motorbikes.

I'll never know how hard he was trying, but there doesn't look much in it according to the stats.

More performance
1/4 mile 13.7 in the 640d
14.4 in the Z4

To me that's better than the 0-62 dash
Pretty impressive for a big barge, given the facelift Si is no slouch
Still as others have said the 640 would be history once you reached a corner :)

Gone but not forgotten Z4 3.0i SE Roadster ///M front, Red ///M leather seats, Aero sills

Its the 40D engine in my X6 and as far as I can find out it does 1/4 mile in 14.4
In sports mode using the auto handbrake it takes off like a scalded cat, no way I could pull away as quick in our Z.

I just lifted the times from here:
http://fastestlaps.com/models/bmw-640d
There plenty of sites that cover all these stats if you chuck in a search or 2
Often difficult to compare same engine in different cars in a range as they often have different power characteristics, levels of power, car weight, 2 or 4WD, gear box ratios and final drive ratio, etc.

Made me look up my soon to collect F Type S
0-60 in 4.7 and 1/4 in 12.6 - Not too shabby for a Jaaaag

Thanks Marlon and Pastry
Hoping to be behind the wheel this weekend, else it'll be in the garage before I get to really drive it and go on holiday :(
