"kept the Z4s honest" - you practically smashed me up the arse pal! My next car is an Alfa; MCoup is $hit in comparison...
Still, you can re-visit those same ditches this year if you like Tony...see which bits of trim are stil there....

I'll never know how hard he was trying, but there doesn't look much in it according to the stats.
I've had both trust me
Granted both cars are standard but my 330i can't get anywhere near my 640d in terms of performance, the 330i sounds a little better but it's 3 litre N/A engine is completely gutless when compared to the 3 litre twin turbo oiler in the 640d.

I'm also running a 535D F11 MSport Auto stacked with gizmos. Twin turbo 3.0L Performance? Awesome, awesome, awesome. It can do 100mph at just over 2k rpm and is almost silent. It is a rocket. More so than the 640D I had I think.
It will leave my 2.5 Si Z4 for dead - as much as I love the Zed!

I have a F13 coupé 640dX as my daily and compared to the E85, as you could guess, the experience is different. In some aspects they're really opposites and I love them both. The zed feels light and agile, exposing to the elements and noises. With zed you can really feel the speed and it's great fun even at low speeds. Slow cruising at sunset or brisk mornings - you know all that. The 640 certainly feels more calm. It's quiet, very quiet inside and a nice place to be in. There's plenty of leather and toys. Feels bigger and heavier but corners better with active dampers and anti roll bars. Thanks to the massive torque no need to rev, which makes overtaking or racing lights so effortless. A great car for long trips. With the 640 you really have to keep an eye on the speedometer, as the feel of speed is absent. The steering and the feel of the road is a bit sharper, but varies greatly with different tyres. I have non-rft winter tyres which make the 640 super cozy and quiet, and low profile rft summers which make the steering feel sharp and the road surface feels well. Never tracked them.

So altogether I love them both and they are both keepers. Both are fast but otherwise quite a different breed. The zed a sports car and the 640 a GT.

Can't imagine that sensation with the torque in the 640d though... imagine it would rip out your spinal column
