3.0si Roadster Ownership Progress

Post by trick4 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 4:54 pm

Hi all,

Posted back in mid feb to say hi, and though I'd follow up with some progress and pics. Here's the total list of (almost all cosmetic) work done so far, I honestly feel ready for the summer - have i peaked too soon?

The car didn't need much love but in the last two weeks I've:
- Replaced off-side light cluster (MOT advisory on slightly dimmed tail lights)
- Fixed an intermittent fault on the near-side sidelight
- Refurbed the MF steering wheel (fully disassembled and resprayed trim, reconditioned leather)
- Replaced gear knob (OEM)
- New OEM alloy centre caps
- New Bosch (non-aero) wiper blades
- Deep cleaned the roof
- Refurbed the headlights
- PDR'd a door ding
- Got rid of various squeaks on the interior - from the dash and M seats

Really the only things I want to still do are:
  • Oil Service
  • Fully strip back to paint - claybar, polish and rewax
  • Possible Alloy refurb
Here's the product of the many hours of work!

Black paintwork and red leather looks great ! The last thing you mention in your list is a possible alloy wheel refurb. From what I can see on your photos they don't look too bad so why not give your wheels a deep clean to start with ? I think you may be pleasantly surprised. Get your self some Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner and remove each wheel in turn. Give the outside face and inside the barrel a bloody good going over with a good set of wheel brushes. Give the tyre walls a good scrub also to get rid of the brown dirt. Then polish and seal the alloys with a good quality wheel sealant. Finish the tyres with a decent tyre dressing. Nice clean wheels and dressed tyres will really set off your gloss black paintwork.
p.s Some Peek Metal Polish and a sheet of 3000 grit Wet n Dry paper will revive your tail - pipes :D
Sterling Grey '03 2.5i SE / Infinitas Supercharger / S.M.G / Hardtop / Gloss Black 162s / Bilstein B4s / 3.0i Brakes / DLV De-Cat & Silencer / Rebuilt VANOS / Sonar 2Xcite Lights / Carbon & Alcantara Trim / M-Sport Seats / ...& Side Covers !

Tail pipes coming off for a polish today, thanks for the tips! When I've got some more time I'll definitely do as you say and get the wheels off.

Edit: Pun not intended
