Does anyone have a preferred air filter? K&n, pipercross, standard paper? Is it worth getting an induction kit?

Standard paper for me> From what i have read induction kits are difficult to get a reliable cold air supply to, and hence pull warm air limiting performance.

Hi, I had a k&n panel filter in the airbox of my 3.0si-can't be sure but I'm convinced it felt healthier for it :)

A couple of the many previous discussions, this topic usually splits opinions :slappy:

But I'm not sure there is evidence of provable advantages of aftermarket without intake mod's and re-maps to take advantage of the increased air volume, velocity or density.

I wouldn't bother with them, just stick with oem panel filters. I fitted pipercross induction kits to cars when I was in my early 20s as I liked the sound, but they did sod all for performance, they made it worse tbh. I certainly would not use anything with an oil coating.

Keep it standard, use a decent panel filter Mann or Wix or if you've got deep pockets a BMW one which are Mann anyway I think.

Suggestions that the oil from the K&N can affect the MAF sensor put me off. I just make sure I use dealer sourced or at least good quality Bosch/Mann/Mahle branded filters and steer clear of cheap unbranded sh1te. :driving:
