Help coding / programing using WinKFP

Post by kis » Tue Mar 28, 2017 2:31 pm

Hi all,

It's been a while that I've had a busted Airbag Control Module (or Safety Control Module)... If you want to know the background I posted on two different threads as things progressed. One my own, one from someone else with similar issues. See here and here.

To summarise, me and mac27040 (again, big thank you) have problem solved the issue being the airbag ECU. I purchased a second hand module from ClassicCarSpares2015 (well known breaker) after many months of searching. The unit was not in a crashed car. This was fitted and works initially after all error codes are deleted, however when the ignition is turned off (and then back on) the airbag light reappears. This is due to a car / module chassis or vin number conflict. The unit itself works fine.

This brings me to my question, has anyone successfully coded their chassis number onto a second hand module? If so, how and what platform was used?

Thanks! :)

This sounds like a job for WinKFP or ISTA-P. ISTA should be a bit easier to use but I've not had experience using either to recode.

If you still have old module you could simply swap eprom, no programing required.

Thanks Scooba_Steve. I'll look into those.

Marius, I have the old module but it's not working correctly? By eprom? How can you swap the programming? What platform?

Don't matter ,you only replacing memory that holds car details . Much simpler solution considering you have no idea how to program it .

You talking about physically replacing the section of the module which holds that data? i.e. swapping memory from one to the other. Would it be a simple plug and play? I don't think BMW would have made it that easy! :(

BMW don't make electriconics :D and yes it's simply swap. Soldering required but I guess that was obvious.

Right so fairly certain that we need WinKFP. Anyone know anyone in Surrey / West Sussex (or even around London) that knows their way round the program?

Help coding / programing using WinKFP

So I'm reviving a pretty old thread, but I guess I'm allowed as I'm the OP!

I'm still in this position so if anyone in the London area (M25 sort of radius) has any experience or knowledge then it would be a great help. Other than Carly I've no experience of any other software, so don't want to do anything stupid (which potentially I may end up doing tomorrow because I have access to the machine/software from Neil). HELP please
