S65B40 Swap into E86 M

Subscribed too - epic build! I'd definitely plump for a manual myself, but then if you're competing in it I can see the logic in dct completely!

Keep the progress/updates coming, I'm really looking forward to how this turns out!

How are you getting on OP?
Coupe, KW coil overs, PSB limiters, Powerflex ARB bushes, 18" CSL reps, Aero skirts, ZHP leather knob, Whippy and proud. Probably needs a wash

I was enjoying this thread - and it seemed like the OP was going full steam ahead. But then... nothing :? .
Wonder where the project got to?

Hi,

Brilliant job so far, I'm looking forward to your next installment. Perhap's BMW should have installed the V8 in the first place - what a car it would have been then.

Going to be a great car when it's finished.

Maybe in a straight line. With an extra 30-40kg hanging over the front end its not exactly going to be nimble through the twisties.
Just thinking about how owners say the 4 cylinder Zs handle better than the 6 cylinder Zs due to less weight at the front.
I wonder how this would affect the rear possibly spinning up easier too.

I think the v8 engine is lighter than the s54 straight six :o

Looks like you are right although there seems to be different info out there with some info saying the engine is 50kg heavier.
Wikimotors pages have the S65 engine over 100 pounds heavier than the S54

Even if it is a little heavier? The weight is not as far forward being only 4 cylinders long. I bet it won’t make that much difference to the handaling.
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

Surely more like 4.5 with the slight offset :P

Still puts the engine CG quite a bit further back I guess
