Best wheels and tyres
Hi Neil/Pabby
Thanks for the information on tyres Neil. I'll have a look at them. As far as wheels go I am still looking. I thought I had a set of refurbished MMV2's in the bag. They were advertised with economy tyres on them but the guy agreed a deal with no tyres. The following morning he told me it was first come first served because someone wanted them with the tyres. He wanted instant payment without siight of the wheels so it is back to the drawing board. I like the look of the 108s too but am stlll leaning towards the MV2s if I can find the a really good set at a sensible price.
Regards

I'd be all over these if I were you. They look immaculate and have plenty of tread left on the tyres. I'm half tempted myself!

Problem is they're on runcraps, completely ruining any type of compliance in ride quality

Depends what you're using the car for. Mines a daily driver and I'd happily wear the runflats down then replace with something better. If you're a weekend hooner then you'd probably want to avoid them.

Hi
Thanks for the tip-off. They do look good. Just have a few reservations about the runflats. I am looking at some fully refurbished MV2s for £400 but then I will have to buy tyres. I'll have to make my mind up quickly or these will go.
Kind Regards

Hi
Got to admit the 108s look good on your car. Somehow I get the feeling you are encouraging me to make a bid for the lovely mint 108s which have been advertised in the for sale forum today. Mind you by now I might be too late.

I was tempted as mine need a refurb. There's no getting away from the fact they are more prone to paint degradation but it doesn't happen that fast so a nice clean set will be fine for quite a few years.

MV's came as an option for the Zed as well. The facelift? I think?
That being said you do get a lot of e46 rocking them, while I don't think I've seen a single one with 108's
(and I'm talking about in the flesh, before some smart arse posts a link of a e46 with 108's! Lol)

They were an option on the e46 first, where as wheels like 108s or 107s were only ever sold on Z4's.

£400 for a fully refurbished set is pretty good.
Or you could get these and get them refurbished for about £250. (depending where you're based)

Many E46 wheels will fit, giving you a big choice. I replaced my MV2s with Style 32's in exactly the same size and offset. Style 32 because I like them, they are easy to clean and they are also lighter than most other BMW wheels.

Hi
After a lot of consideration, I bought the 108s advertised by a fellow member today. I really liked the way the 108s looked on Steve's car and that helped me make the final decision. Plus I felt more comfortable buying from a forum member rather than EBay or Gumtree. It was a really easy transaction. Very friendly and I was very happy with final price. Plus we met half way to effect the sale. One wheel has a minor scuff and that goes in to be dealt with tomorrow. So by the end of the week I'll have my new wheels bolted on. One final query, the old chestnut, spacers. I agree with the observations stating that they help to improve the cars appearence but do they increase stress and wear on the likes of the wheel bearings? Being well into my second childhood and a bit cautious I'm just not sure which path to follow. My car will only be used during the Summer months and I only expect to cover about 3500 miles each year. I would really value the experiences of those members who have them on their cars.
I would also like to thank everyone who has responded to my initial post and helped me to choose my wheels.
Kind Regards

I run mine 10mm spacers all round, which at that width won't add much extra stress. You can fit more like 12mm front and 15mm rear but I was getting a small amount of rubbing just with 10mm at the front before I increased the negative camber. I also wanted to keep the same relative track widths as a wider rear induces more understeer, not something the car needs. So if you like how they look on mine then 10mm H&R is the way to go. Before that they did look a bit far in.

Hi Steve
Thanks for the information. The car came with spacers already on it With the 16 inch wheels but I'm not sure of their size. The back ones certainly look wider than 10mm. Following your suggestion seems to be a sensible compromise. What exactly should I order and where is the best place to get them from? Somewhere like Demon Tweeks seems to have a good range but when I originally looked I noticed there were two bolts with different numbers. I need to make sure I order the correct fit etc.
