Torque Pro Connection Problem

Post by Magicarcher » Mon Apr 24, 2017 6:57 pm

I am trying to connect to my 2005 E85 with Torque Pro on my android phone. I have tried two different bluetooth ELM327 OBD2 devices. In both instances torque pro communicates fine with the bluetooth device but returns an error "device unable to connect to onboard computer of the car"

Both these devices work fine on my 2010 Mini R56.

Has anyone else had any problems connecting to the Z4 computer with a bluetooth ODB2 dongle?

Mine connects okay using Torque Pro and a cheap ELM327 Bluetooth OBD2 device.

Torque will connect but you really need a wired connection to be able to pull any usable data maybe even need carly for proper diagnosis as torque only addresses main ecu

Torque Pro Connection Problem

I had issues getting torque to work right, I found that it's a bit fussy in how things are started and connected. What seems to work for me is to have the obd2 connected first, whilst torque is completely closed. Once you have lights flashing then start up torque. 9 times out of 10 this worked for me.

I got fed up in the end and got Carly and a wired OBD2

My TPro app with bluetooth worked fine until recently when I think an update started causing the same connection issue on cars I've previously used it on including the Z4. But as nick says above, getting the ob2 dongle live first seems to work.

Iv'e no idea what type of OBD2 dongle it is but it was a 5 quid amazon jobbie

It's just crap app that need playing around to set up, once done it will connect everytime. Not really good for diagnostic as it's only scans engine and no other modules.

Just a further note torque pro with my cheap Bluetooth dongle has worked fine for me on loads of cars just the zed it doesn't like, but even carly specifically stated you need wired and not Bluetooth to fully communicate with the E85/e86
