e46 sport seats in e85

Post by vester86 » Thu May 04, 2017 1:04 pm

Difference in height comes mainly from being manual vs electric. Electric sits higher then manual, both for the Z4 standard seats as for the e46 seats. So that explains why YOUR conversion from electric to manual sport gives no increase in seat height, but MY conversion from manual to electric sport DOES increase seat height

Do E46 saloon seats fit too? The E46 Coupe seats obviously fold forward but is not needed in the Z4, but are saloon seats physically the same?

Yes they do, only fitting these as they are what I removed from my e46 coupe

Great mod to your Zed Jamie
The standard sports seats let the car down imo. Good for members to have an alternative to searching for good quality rare M Sports seats that cost a small fortune.

Jamie, thanks for posting this up, I for one have found it very useful to know that it is a straight swap and the ride isn't altered.

E89 seats won't fit in an e85, well it isn't straight forward anyway. The Se seats are just as crap and unsupportive too imo

Won't fit pysically, won't fit electrically. Lots of errors in the car (airbag) and connector under the seat is different

Thanks for posting this Jamie, I did wonder if other BMW seats would fit and it's good to know they do. I have electric, heated seats in mine, so the same spec e46 will bolt straight in and the electrics will all plug straight in too, reall good to know.

I'm also thinking about E46 seats, as I find the sports seats in my 328i Touring so much more comfortable than my Z4 sports seats. I think I will go for saloon or touring as I don't want the seat tipping from the coupe.
I think this thread will push up the prices of E46 seats
