Im surprised there isnt something available that connects the front and back jack points (like a solid bar with jack pucks attached to it) which would enable you to lift the car from the centre and then lower onto axle stands under the jack points.

Not sure if it's long enough to go front to back but it should do side to side https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hilka-82950090 ... B003SFSF8I

Looked at these myself. It extends from 700 to 970mm in length but the trouble with this is that I reckon that once it's sitting on the trolley jack it will be too high to get under the Zed without driving up on to wooden blocks or similar. :(

I'm not sure if anyone's interested but here you go anyway!

Home made, low rise ramps to get started. I didn't spend long on these. I might finish them off and let them become a family heirloom...

Lug located in jacking point socket.

On blocks with jack under other side of car.

My drive way is still to be properly surfaced and the old bricks make it very tricky to slide the jack about, on a flat surface it would be better. I have to say though in many ways I feel safer with wooden blocks in compression (especially on a rough surface) than I do with angle iron tripod jack stands.

This arrangement is not perfect but I am able to do things that I couldn't do (safely and without lying in the dirt) with just the one jack and two axle stands. I'm wondering if there would be a market for a more developed equivalent - especially if it could go higher (although this is primarily limited by my crappy jack). Reading some of the previous posts I do have jack envy .....

I have seen those http://shop.jackpointjackstands.com/ they look pretty cool. Quite an investment though.

I think these look pretty good too http://myliftstand.com/ unless you want to do suspension work and get the wheels off the ground...

May be I need to come up with something between the two.....

This area of mahogany should be good for over 50 tonnes (although I doubt that's the weak point......)
um, hope this is a mis-perception on my part perhaps, but it looks a bit tall to get under the zed in the first place? have u measured up?
+1

More to the point, how do you get away with using the kitchen table area for a photo shoot & please don't tell me you constructed it there as well????

Definitely not built in the kitchen! Quite a lot of steel cutting with an angle grinder which is filthy. It was quite weird - I was in the garden most perturbed that I could smell someone's bonfire before I realised that the sparks from the angle grinder had ignited a pile of saw dust behind me. Considering this had been there ages and would have been soaked, then dried out this is pretty surprising. The years I've been using angle grinders I've never seen this before - made me feel like Bear Grylls (sort of.....)
