Modified exhaust tips for a 2.0?

Post by Matthew. » Sun May 28, 2017 11:19 pm

Hi guys, I've just bought a 2.0 Z4 (my second), and wondered if anyone has modified the single exhaust exit to make it a twin tip to resemble a 2.5/3.0?

Modified exhaust tips for a 2.0?

It's early doable, as believe it or not the 2.0 exhaust actually exits the box as twin pipes before its joined into a single one! And the same at the rear, the single pipe from the engine splits into two as it enters the box, couldn't believe it when I saw it. I presume is bmw's way of making the 2.0 appear lesser than the sixes, but it obviously needs the twin in and out pipes for flow otherwise they wouldn't have gone to the expense.

Great info Mike, thanks. So just a case of getting an exhaust fabricator to chop and weld. I'll have a ring round my local places and will update this thread with costs.
