2nd time owner, think I got a bargain! :D :D - edited with pics
Hi all!
So this is my second time around being part of this forum, I can't login (or remember) my old handle, but I handed back my 2003 2.5i Sport having had it 2006-2010 without any issues, but contributed here from 2006-2008ish.
Really missed the Z4 and only handed it back to BMW when the balloon payment came up and I needed something sensible - dull! So it's been a 320d M Sport since then.
Now realised that I could probably convince my other half that with only one child I could get away with a Z4 as a second car - and it worked!!
I've been watching the BCA auction website and watching the various mis-treated Z4s making their way through the halls - wow some people don't give a damn about their cars!! Here's what I wrote on one of the Facebook groups a couple of weeks ago - I was still trying to log in with my old name here and failing, hence the delay!
Hope you enjoy the story!
20th June.
I've had quite the day. Went to BCA auctions in Enfield as I'd spotted this beauty online just over a week ago.
2007, 3.0 SI Sport, 43k miles(!!!), Xenons, Parking Sensors, Leather Heated Memory seats, Comfort Access, Enhanced Bluetooth, Wind Deflector, Drink Holders,
Chip-free windscreen, perfect bodywork, pristine Alloys, dark clean hood with only a small amount of green deposits around the edges. I figured there had to be a catch, some problem lurking beneath the surface!!
It went through the hall and started at Β£4100 which I laughed at, there were 4 people bidding and circling it as they went. I stayed out waiting to see if they got anywhere near my max on their own. As they got to Β£7k the auction was halted - they couldn't get the hood back up! Argh, here's the catch I was afraid of.
I'd seen it go down when I watched them start the car up, so I knew it worked only 5 mins before.
They took the car off sale while they tried to get it working. I followed the car out to watch them work on it, they played with the movable 'shelf' but everything they did resulted in no movement.
The dealer told the auctioneers to put it back through as 'sold as seen', roof not working.
Bidding started again with the same 4, it got to Β£6600 and then went quiet - my time to step in....(It was way below what I was prepared to pay for what I think is an rare find for sale and I had an idea what the roof might cost to repair!)
Now it was me and one other guy who took me all the way up to Β£7400 and he dropped out - result! MINE!!
It took me a while to get the paperwork sorted, insure it, tax it and get it off site that I didn't bother looking at the roof.
Get home, lift the boot, play with that lovely little red hoop catch and - BOOM, roof works!!
If you've read this far, thank you and I apologise for rambling on but I'm so pumped - unbelievable!
I think the price Β£7950 after fees) is amazing.
The only issue I have found after driving 70 miles is a faulty headlight washer. Tomorrow after it's cooled I can then check the oil etc.
Back in the club after 7 years out!!

Β£8k is pretty much the going price for a low mileage facelift. Can't say that you've got a bargain here. But welcome back

Agreed, my new one has 41K and paid around the 8K as well, private sale. I would have expected an auction to be less, perhaps by a grand.
That said there are independent dealers asking around a grand more with 30K more miles. Prices do seem quite varied, perhaps the market is a bit confused on how to value 10-12 year old car at present.

It doesn't matter what you paid Hypergrade, as long as you are happy and you are enjoying the car then good on you.

Cheers for the comments - appreciate some of the price comments, but I've been watching for several months on AT for what I wanted (which I should have clarified) which was 3.0, facelift, manual, low miles, Blue or Grey, heated memory seats. You can't find them - or if you can they've not been in the last few months.
For a car with zero issues I'm very pleased. Not taken any pics properly yet but I'll find a couple.

I know what you mean, as soon as you filter by 3 litre the choice shrinks dramatically, then a few other option and you end up with 1 or 2 possibles.
