Help me get a DLV backbox Home - need shipping options!

Post by enzed4 » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:31 pm

Title about sums it up. I am keen to acquire one of Mike's world-famous modded backboxes, and it seems the only things stopping me is uncertainty over the cost of shipping. Mike thought he could airfreight it for about £50, but that turned out not to be the case :( .
We're now investigating surface freight options but not having much luck either.

I'm putting it out to the Z4-forum community: does anyone have any experience with overseas shipping who might know of any good rates/options available (shipping to New Zealand)? Would love to see this over the line for slightly less that a Royal ransom...
Mike knows the dimensions if needed, and I think the weight is about 12Kgs

Thanks.

:tumbleweed:
I had hoped someone would have had some shipping experience, or be 'in the trade' and know what the best deals are...
If I'd known Boris Johnson was coming to NZ (and he was just 'up the road' yesterday in Kaikoura) I would have asked him to throw it in his checked-in luggage

I'm not sure our global logistics department would like me surreptitiously adding additional 'inventory items' into a controlled container of pharmaceuticals...so I'm out

If you run out of options, i might be able to do ... something.. probably helps if you were to add the box dimensions and weights to this thread.. backboxes for 12 kgs? is that each? :D I've got a set in my storage room and they weigh a freakin tonne.. but then they haven't had the Duck Lake View treatment.

Just get the backbox modded in N.Z, it's really quite a simple mod.

Thanks everyone - appreciate the help.
I know I could 'try' to get this done in NZ, but it can be very hit and miss with finding someone who can do exactly what needs doing. I have been down this route before (not just with exhaust mods) and sometimes it's better to go with a known/proven product that to try and strike out on your own. Besides which, I like to help out or support forum members if I can, even from the other side of the world

kay, best i can get is with fedex, uk to dxb is 375 and then dxb to Unzed is 570 ead, so thats about 950ead, thats 330 aussie bucks or 200 sterling. The reason it has to go through dxb is thats the only way i can use my discount. and thats using generic addresses.. london and auckland..
Pretty steep that. :|

Guys - again thanks for looking into this for me  . It may just be this is not meant to happen.

Vanne - just noticed your spelling above - 'Unzed' - how did you get my accent perfect? You work with many Kiwis?
