It's a pita to be honest as key is sealed, so you need to cut it. Then solder in new battery . Battery's are on fleabay, and you tube should show you how to do it.

Alternatively, there's a couple of guys on eBay who will provide a new key coded etc to the car. I think one is in St. Helens.

Do drive it quite a bit seems to have been playing up for the last couple of weeks must admit though mainly driving it on a weekend for a few hours but the car is a 53 reg and rechargeable batteries don't last forever

You could try placing it on a toothbrush charger (induction) overnight. Did that with my 04 reg dead key, it was nice & warm in the morning & has been fine since.

Yeah, I saw those but they don't seem to be compatible with pre 2005's :( .
I had to reprogramme both my keys after the recharge of the dead one. I used method 2 on here:

Worked no problem :D

Listing states compatible with Z4 - 2003-2005, so I am assuming pre-facelift? What you did only works to resync the remote, you can't program immobiliser transponders without the proper diagnostic kit :)

I walked into here today, and 20 mins later I had a working key fob.

https://www.themasterlocksmith.com/prod ... y-repairs/

£20 for just the battery
£40 for battery and new case/key cut.

I didnt feel safe sending my key off to some internet bloke with the address where my new baby resides lol
