Will my car be lowered after bilstein b12 kit

Post by dhobbs » Fri Aug 18, 2017 6:42 am

Hi
I've ordered the bilstein b12 kit but I'm confused as to whether this will lower my car or not.
The website says 30mm front and rear, but is this related to the SE suspension and not the m-sport?
I have m-sport suspension, and supposedly this lowers it by 30mm already

I don't mind either way, but I need to tell my insurance as I don't want them wriggling out of any sort of claim.

Thanks.
3.0si roadster. Requisite stubby. Sound gen mod. LED numberplate lights. LED boot strip. Interior lights LED too. ZHP gearknob. Daily drive :driving:
Motor in boot. Bilstein B8 dampers. New radio, much better sounds

It's the springs that determine the ride height. Does the kit include springs? Those lowering figures typically quote from standard ride height, so it potentially will lower another 15mm.

Another 10-20mm all round mate looks great on the B12 kit I had it on my Z4 :)

Eibach springs matched with Bilstein B8 shocks

The sport suspension is only 15mm lower than SE. So you'll have a 15mm drop to look forward too once settled

Yes, kit is springs and dampers.

Cheers.
Lowering isn't the prime reason for the kit, but will look better afterwards.
Looks like a call to the insurance company now, no excuse to say it's still as per manufacturers specifications.

I bought a set of eibach springs.. didn't bother installing them before calling insurance who told me that it is a "denied" mod on their database so they can't allow me to install it lol :D waiting for my policy to expire before I move to different insurer... this is with churchill. if you have any mods, avoid them.

Yeh I'm the same, with Churchill and they really have no tolerance for mods! Saves money from modding I guess

I put the b12 kit on mine a few months ago, decent improvement in handling, lowers nicely on the front and a smidgen on the rear, definitely benefited with spacers to complete the look (I went with 15 rear and 12 front)
Midnight blue, 3.0si sport coupe, champagne nappa leather, piano black trim, stubby, DLV exhaust and a bunch of other stuff

I've ordered the kit, just not sure when it will arrive. As to when I'll be able to fit it in not sure.

Just got a letter for a speed awareness course

LV are very good with mods, most have little impact on premium and they dont charge £25 everytime you make a change to the policy.

My Alpina is on the B12 kit with Eibach springs and ive no complaints. It is slightly lower than standard but by no means too low.
Sticks like #### to a blanket too
