anybody track their E89?
hi,
i've got a standard 35i DCT. just wondering if there's any point in taking it on a track. probably Bedford Autodrome so that i can compare lap times to other cars i've take there.
in the past i've used a 3.0 E85, a Porsche 997 C2S, a track prepped Porsche 944 and an S2000. i'm thinking the E89 is too soft and heavy to be any fun. also not sure if the DCT is set up more for road use than track.
cheers
Pav

Not as good as the other cars on the list, but still a lot of fun.

I've had mine on the Jaguar test track at Gaydon and I had a great time. Regular 150mph bursts down the long straights and it was good fun on the long sweeping bends. I'm not sure how it would be on a technically challenging track but on this high speed one it provided plenty of grin time.

Why, I thought these cars handled reasonably well. Not Lotus Exige or Porsche Cayman but still capable.chasBMW wrote:I only got asked this the other day , the answer would be no I guess it would be hopeless

Hi,
Yes & N0
Was invited to an corporate track day, with the intention using my 335i - but my Z came 2 weeks early.
So I only did 4 laps under 4k RPM

ANY car is worth taking on a track-day just for the fun

Forum member quadracer used to take his 35 to various tracks as I recall.
He used to be a regular on here but not for a while. You could try dropping him a PM.

I say this because prior to 35iS I had an e86 Z4MC and whilst i never tracked that either when I drove in a spirited fashion (if you know what I mean) that felt responsive whereas the e89 well even in sport+ doesnt and in fact on a couple of occasions has felt a bit scary, now it might be me because im not claiming to be the best driver in the world but I dont really think its a car to push to the edgeHavard wrote:Why, I thought these cars handled reasonably well. Probably worth doing once in a while just to get it out of the system and drive it like it can be driven.
Most of us don't get anywhere near the cars capabilities.
Hit the redline in third on UK roads and its trouble if you're captured.
