Wheels - Help with Widths / Offsets

Post by SteveSmith » Sat Sep 09, 2017 6:37 am

Hi all,

Currently have M326's, I believe the specs are...

Front - 8j et29
Rear - 9j et40

I fitted 12mm spacers to the front making the et17 with no issues.

I fitted 20mm spacers to the rear making et20 and had huge issues so I fitted the 12mm spacers making et28 and get the very occasional scrub.

I've always wanted to get M359 wheels (the e9x M3 Comp wheel) and as I've now got cracks in one of my rear wheels this is possibly the best way to go.

I've seen the exact wheels fitted to a Z4 (black on black, GAINZ numberplate, fairly sure he's on here!) but looking at the specs I can't see how...

Front - 9j et20 - so rough calculation, they'll poke out by a further 10mm on top of what I had with a 12mm spacer on the M326... never going to fit.

Rear - 10j et25 - so these will poke another 15mm on top of what I have now, when the extra 8mm of spacer ruined my arch liners and still scrubbed under acceleration with no arch liner fitted!

Is this my little dream in my head of having these wheels dead in the water?

Wheels - Help with Widths / Offsets

Just found another website, they state the specs are...

WIDTH: 9" front / 10" rear
OFFSET: et35 front / et38 rear

With these offsets the fronts would fit perfectly, the rears would poke by 2/3mm which I think we could deal with. I'll look into it.

Could I still run 235/35 on a 9j and 255/35 on a 10j?

You can still run those tyre sizes but they are on the line of recommended widths so expect them to look a little stretched
