mr wilks wrote: Sat Oct 07, 2017 9:21 pm So i left the car with my indy earlier in the week & collected it yesterday . 49k covered so had gearbox oil changed along with oil + filter ( more for my own self as it was only done a few thousand miles ago ) plus changed from the factory Msport to H&R lowering springs . Running short of tasks now
Mr Wilks - so you are using an indy, not a BMW dealer for servicing, is that right? If so you dont think its longer important to have FBMWSH, if so why is that? The reason I ask is the my 2009 31K miler 35i needs a service this week and I have been thinking about moving away from BMW to do that, mostly on a cost basis. I can afford to take it to BMW but I feel they are slightly ripping me off, ie they quoted me an extra £100 for a set of plugs but couldn't tell me for definite whether the car needs them!!!
Simple answer is i trust my indy way more than i trust any franchised BMW agent  i know the work gets done once & gets done right . He is ex master tech BM trained & can't fault his approach , expertise or his rates . I know several other forum members have now started using him too so i'm not just blowing smoke up the guys arse .
Your 2009 31k car ? Should already have had plugs imo but perhaps it hasn't yet had its Ins2 due to lowish miles for year ?
Just checked the service book. The car had its first service at 8k, 2nd at 12k including plugs(no idea why then), 3rd at 21k.
Apart from the 2nd service it looks to me like they were pretty much the same, oil, filters and a few checks.
Car is now on 31k and the services are almost exactly 2 years apart, maybe plugs aren't needed yet?

@"stijohnny'" its not unommon with these cars to have had plugs+ coilpacks switched early . Rough or lumpy idling seems quite prevalent with the N54 twins & this would be a first base to touch for a cure

Well that was a most enjoyable 6 months :driving: but all good things come to a end & logbook exchanged for cash today with a forum member , would be a wrestle if i had to choose between this 35i & the Imola MR as the highpoints of my Z ownership , both equally enjoyable in different ways
Now time to focus on getting the E86 looking tiptop , serviced while pondering Z no13

Difficult one, as you have had the top E85 and E89 for driving pleasure.

That is unless you are starting to feel your age and need an automatic, then there is always the 35is

Perhaps an E86 M as you haven't that one yet?
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo
