VERY good video. Some really enjoyable moments. Not least the drone shots. Impressive skills.

I don't really see that as POV spec

At least it's got the screen and I drive in it .

It's a great colour
64 plate
Nice mileage

Really it should fly out at that money, £26k was way too expensive.. £23k is realistic

I dunno about year differences to be honest, but plenty Is's knocking about with no Idrive...

Its a bit of a bad advert really.....Guess build sheet could be got off chassis.

If thats got half decent audio in it then its worth having,an even if it didnt at the right money its still a lovely car.

I might even consider that as a return to Z4 ownership..lol..

How to get the most from a 35IS test drive?

Post by gwatson » Wed Dec 27, 2017 4:34 pm

Can't believe it was back in Sept I test drove the 35is.

Yeah noticed the car is still for sale. I wasn't satisfied that it had a full service history, they never got back to me on that, or if they could offer it with a BMW warranty. Also, as I mentioned, it would also need a full detail, paint was very flat, but that's all part of the fun of buying a "new" car.

Chassis number is WBALM120X0J057723, only options I recall were heated seats, 19's?? and Pro Sat Nav, sadly no audio upgrade. It was reduced to £25k from £26k when I test drove it. Could try a cheeky offer of £20k I guess, but they really didn't seem interested in selling it even at £25k.

Still not sure what I'm going to replace my S2000 with. Boxster is still a maybe if the spec was very high, ideally with bucket seats to make it feel a more special. GTS prices are just too high. My wife has got me 2 days F Type hire for my xmas :) Will use it in the summer. I think that's the most likely replacement at this time. That said, I'd regret selling the S2000 for the second time I suspect, so ideally I could keep both. As Evo mag said this month "There never was and never will be anything else quite like it".

Maybe the next generation Z4 will be a drivers car, but won't hold my breath. It'll be a looker I'm sure.

Noticed it's now sold, or at least no longer for sale... Did anyone on here manage to do a deal? :)

So many months later after test driving the 35is and Boxster S, I have an F Type V6S for 24 hours from Thursday afternoon. Now this really does get my juices flowing! Will let you know how it goes and try to give a comparison between the other two. Planning a 400 mile+ East to West coast trip up here in Scotland 8) :driving:

G29 Z4 could be a contender too, especially as it's back to a soft-top and hopefully a decent drive.

35iS vs Boxter S vs F-Type V6S ... apples vs oranges vs kiwi fruit.

I like 'em all, but they are different.

We were thinking of possibly getting an F-type next year but may have to change our minds. :(
The F-type is 250mm wider than the Z which makes it around 60mm wider than the X6!!
Knowing what it is like trying to park the X6, an F-type would be worse with the narrow spaces in most car parks.

Yeah appreciate they a different cars, but also similar in many ways. Be interesting to compare, really excited! From what I've read and watched, it's a real event to drive, but not as dynamic as the Boxster of course.

The F Type is almost as wide as my X5, not a problem as it'll never see a city or car park, just the open roads up in the hills. For me, that's what gives the F type the road presence over the Z4 and Boxster to an extent.

Watch this if you have 10 minutes. Will be going over this road on Thurs :)

I think you may be surprised with the width.
If the specs are to be believed the F-types width is 2042mm v the X6 which is 1983mm.
Unless its the new X5 you have the F-type will be wider.
We use our cars for every day duties so would probably see a carpark now and again. Sometimes I struggle to find a space suitable for the X6 as if I have trouble getting out the car once parked the people on either side would have trouble getting in to theirs.
