New wheels

Post by Smartbear » Sat Dec 02, 2017 3:20 pm

Hi, just got home from collecting a set of style 290 wheels from Simon (invisible name)
Very pleased indeed as the wheels are in vgc and the Michelin cross climate tyres have around 6mm of tread as well 8)
New badges fitted and wheel swap planned for tomorrow :P

Look good!

What's "cross climate"? Somewhere between normal and winter?

Yes, instead of the 7degree switch over point of winter tyres, these have a 15degree one which gives them a bigger window of usability :)

Are these 17", Rob?

(Whatever, they look really good and there's a reassuring quantity of rubber between rim and road, unlike BMW'S 19-inch crackers on liquorice strips.)

Yes, they’re 17’s Buster & I shall be doing my bouncy castle impression with them fitted tomorrow
I have another set of wheels arriving next week

i ran a set of these for a year on my Astravan , only time they ever had me worried was warm temps , rain & hitting a turn at 45-50mph  smooth roundabout tarmac  remember one time near home down slip road onto roundabout , turning the wheel & the van just went straight on :o :D fwd that Rob but still be wary .
Dry roads or cold they were great though :driving:

Hopefully, they'll perform better on a Z4.

And Rob'll enjoy the nimbleness of 17"s, too.

Those wheels look good, and I like the idea of Cross Climates - particularly for a daily. (I've still got to fit my winters). :(

Let us know how it drives on those, and tell us about the next set too!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

I shall keep you in suspenders for a little longer, then pics will be posted :P
I got fed up with spending all my money on mundane day to day living expenses so thought it would be more exciting spending it all on wheels instead

Yes, that's the way to go! I bought a set with winters in September and a set for summers in October. :)

I've hardly eaten since, but had to prioritise!

I could do with not eating for a few weeks, I’ve become huge loafing around at smartbear towers for 3 months
