What is this motorway speed limit of which you speak?
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

When I was younger I thought the limit was just an advisory, these days very law abiding, pipe and slippers brigade.

How many on here have hit V max?
I haven’t and mine sees the Autobahn for a month every year.
To be fair the speed controller sits on the passenger side and starts to squeal at 130 onwards.

I must admit I haven't done that in any car for at least 10 years.
But back in the 80s and 90s every car I had got taken to V-max (for evaluation purposes of course) but then there weren't any cameras!
And in those days I used to treat speed limits as a minimum - nowadays in the UK you're unlikely to have many opportunities to get near them!
Coupes because stunning!

Rode bikes all my life, always used to have the need to test the top speed , on the motorways in the 70s and 80s the chances of getting caught for speeding were negligible best ever achieved was 155. These days I start to panick if the needle goes much over 80, not because of the speed but for the fear of big brother watching from on high.

Had a few quick cars and some insane bikes but never maxed any of them on the road
Had my 09 Fireblade up to 163 mph on the M11 but it probably had another 20mph to go
Had the R1 at 175mph down the old Revett straight at Snetterton that would have been max as it was 11500 revs, but then its only at max for a few seconds then its hard on the brakes for the left hander

I wonder why cars are limited to 155 yet it seems bikes are not?

Bikes are limited, to 186mph! I think it’s a gentleman’s agreement

Some of the bikes are limited to 186mph
It was just a gentlemans agreement with the Japanese manufacturers though.
It's 186 mph because they agreed a nice round 300 kmh

Not all cars are limited though, lambo’s, Bugatti, Ferrari etc reach more than 155mph, I think it’s just the cars the masses can afford that get limited

How easy is it to remove the 155 mph on BMW's ?
It's easy on the bikes as it's only applied to 6th gear so you can trick the ECU into thinking the bike is still in 5th gear
Mind you I've personally never felt the desire to try 186mph on the road, and I doubt I'll ever visit a track with a straight long enough to do it.

Bikes are limited to 'display' the equivalent of 299kph, but infact accelerate a bit past this.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

Cars aren't legally limited to 155, it's just a gentleman's agreement amongst the large manufacturers, hence most supercars with top speeds around the 200mph mark.
Over the years there's been several attempts to get a power cap on the big bikes, but the manufacturers could never agree, the first attempt was at 100 bhp now one or two of the most exotic bikes are producing over 200 bhp in something weighing less than 200 kg.

They were / are limited to 100bhp in parts of Europe, certainly Belgium not sure which others, but I believe they were restricted in France
My 17 blade is 189 bhp and 190 kilo so near as damm it 1bhp per kilo
Which is more power to weight than a Bugatti cheron
