35iS - project update

Post by stuartinzg » Sat Jan 16, 2016 1:28 pm

Hi all,

The 35iS is going in for a full paint correction and CQuartz ceramic protection on Monday.
I'll be without the car all week, as there is quite a bit of work to do.
The work is being done at Auto Partes in Croatia, who have a lot of experience with body work and detailing - they also have a few in-house Skylines (one bought from Abbey motorsport in the UK)!

Work to be done

- Fix scratches where I left the car outside a friends place and a cat decided to have a rampage, may require wet sanding
- Full paint correction
- CarPro Cquartz ceramic protection on paint, glass, lights, interior, wheels
- New X6 chrome tailpipes being retrofitted
- Rear diffuser is being sprayed in Maserati silver (Grigio Mercury)
- Calipers are also being sprayed Grigio Mercury, with the clips sprayed in Oro Chiaro Metallic (Ferrari Gold from the 70's/80's)

Inspiration comes from another member on this forum for his great ideas ! He's based in the Netherlands.

Will keep the post updated as we go

Plans for next month

- H&R springs
- Supersprint x-pipe
- MHD Stage 1

Excellent, sounds like it'll be peachy when done, I like the sound of the caliper colours and rear diffuser, take some pics if you will.

How much extra will the MHD give you? Not having a dig but I'm not sure why anyone would want more than stock on a 35is but it'll be interesting to hear your views once fitted and wether you think it was worth it or not and everyone's different so best of luck to you, hope it all goes smoothly with no problems.

Full write up and pics upon completion mandatory please.

Yes I'm hoping it will look good.

At the moment I'm not so interested in more power, so much as the full logging potential I get. My industry is software, so you could say it is also part curiosity. In map 0 setting I can get a lot more data than my torque app.

I agree there isn't so much point in more power until the LSD is fitted. I would be happy with 420, as it is well within tollerances once a few bolt on upgrades are done. But before more power I will sort the suspension and handling.

Cheers

Paint for callipers and diffuser is sourced, decided to stick to the same colour as the iS extras, same as the wing mirror and other bits for continuity. Spraying starts tomorrow.

Paint is not in a brilliant state, it will take a lot of work to correct everything.

Hopefully the X6 tailpipes arrive tomorrow/wed

Just grind off the old ones (spot welded I think) and attach these.

Look nice..

I thought the X6 pipes where just more of a chrome finisher piece than an actual pipe?

They are, did you look under the car at the iS exhaust? They just spot welded some crap dull end piece too. Definitely a limited run special from a third party ...

Paint is sourced

And my bits arrive today to BMW
