:) Not logical.

Yes, runflats are horrible, but they don't crack alloys. If they did, they'd crack 18"s as well as 19"s, but they don't.

The villains of the piece are BMW 19"s.
If you work backwards & apply some logic the answers are there , many 18 inch OEM alloys do suffer from cracks but when considered with the sheer volume of wheels on BMW cars its minimal so most likely a simple case of hitting big holes or debris & not a cheaply manufactured wheel
Bmw then start to introduce 19s to the E90s which ran the same tyre sizes as E89s / the wheels were known as MV4s & have as bad a rep for cracks as 296s if not worse
Then move to the E89 model which i believe has only the choice of 296 or 326 as 19s ?
Do you believe BMW suddenly started making their alloys cheaper or is it more likely to be the rubber ? Not only the type of rubber ( runflats having almost solid sidewalls ) but the actual sizes :? you only need glance at a rear 296/326 9j rim with a 255 30 19 tyre & it looks woefully undersized ( to me anyway )
The other 19s BMW run on X5s , 5series ,X6s don't run a rear 30 profile tyre so most likely have less problem with splits
That's how i read it

They seem to be hit & miss dependant on which dealer you visit.
My car was 3 months out of new car warranty & less than 0.5mm run out-goodwill turned down by bmw as they don't acknowledge issues with the 326 wheels (only 296)
A new replacement is £585 plus tyre fitting etc, there's several places that carry out welded repairs for £30ish.
Change the runflats tyres or it will happen again!

They do change 326 wheels , like i say , dependant on the dealer.
Did you read the link you posted up? No one had there wheels replaced out of warranty in that link :?

Yeah, where does the op mention about the car being out of warranty? He's had the car under a year and every AUC from bmw comes with a year's warranty as standard ;)

I'm the one who mentioned warranty, I said my claim was turned down 3months out of new car warranty.

During the years I've been following the cracked rim saga, there seems to be no hard and fast rule if a claim for a cracked wheel is upheld, partial payment or rejected !

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

The runout test seems almost like a joke considering the rim could be out because the wheel cracked and let the tyre go down to a level where a pothole could buckle the wheel.

It's more of a farce considering the cracks in the rim could also contribute to the runout !

Was it a crack or a puncture?

My 326 wheels were replaced within warranty.

Out of warranty is out of warranty. You're on your own then. Fairs fair. :|

Disagree, there is such a thing as a goodwill claim out of warranty if the car has full bmw service history/low mileage.
I've read of people having successful claims under such circumstances.

There is, but there is no obligation. My point is, noone can moan once out of warranty. :|

However goods do have to be fit for purpose and exhibit a quality that could be reasonably expected?
