Some twit parked so close to my Z4 I couldn't open the door....
Hey all,
I am very selective where I take my Z4 35IS due to other peoples total lack of respect and disregard for other peoples property. The gym I go to regularly is normally absolutely fine in terms of parking, I aim for corner spots where I can tuck right up against the curb to leave the person next to me lots of room....
Today upon finishing my workout I was greeted to a Skoda parked so close to my Z4 that I literally could not open the door and get in the car. How the person who parked their got out of the car is beyond me, No doubt their door was rested on my car. I spoke to the gym receptionist who put out 3 shout outs over the intercom for the owner of this car, waited over 40 minutes. no one turned up. In the end I had to get a friend to slip in to the car very carefully and drive it out. (I bodybuild and am pretty wide in the shoulder region, thus why my friend was able to slip in and I was not).
Either way I was so annoyed by the whole situation, what the hell is it with people and stupid parking like this? Is it jealousy, do people not just give a toss? So frustratingly annoyed by this, just annoys me that people have so little respect for other peoples property.
Rant over
Any tips on avoiding this kind of stuff from you guys?

Surely this is the advantage of owning a convertible? Roof down, climb over! Dukes of Hazard managed it in a hard top.

I did not want to risk scuffing the seats / center console and arm rest. Lol was suggested to me thoughMobeer wrote:Surely this is the advantage of owning a convertible? Roof down, climb over! Dukes of Hazard managed it in a hard top.

Agree that the Skoda parking was inconsiderate, and probably deliberate (ha ha, I'll make my pathetic existence marginally better by pissing someone else off...).sunnydays wrote:I did not want to risk scuffing the seats / center console and arm rest. But in this situation maybe better to 'man up' and climb in on the passenger side with the roof down. Unless you're a complete monkey you're probably not going to damage anything if careful, and 'scuffs' can usually be polished, buffed, wiped away.
Don't think it was worth wasting 40 minutes of your time waiting for someone to come and move their car.

Would suggest over-defensive and on-angle parking as my good ladyfriend laura specialises in to protect her p&j.....

In your situation I would have waited for them to come back and confronted them about it. Chances are they thought you were an easy target because of it being a "tarts" car. I know it's not the usual forum advice of being the bigger man and walking away but I feel you have to confront twats at some point.
This is all assuming you weren't the one parked like a t**t over two spaces, then it's your comeuppance

I always park over two spaces..***k everyone else. One day they will be D**D.
After the age of 50, I now know why my Dad was the way he was.
I had a ticket for being over a line on a deserted car park, never paid the fine, nothing happened.

Well said fred. F*ck everyone else.
Why take one space when you can take 2, 3 or even 4.

Is it not a mystery why people go the gym and park as close to the entrance as possible? My own 14 year old Z4 has an almost flawless body. But it takes work to keep it like that. When parking I have been know to leave the car park as although there are spaces none are suitable for my car. Supermarkets are a particular problem. Luckily our local Sainsbury's have extra wide parking bays. So park at the far end of the car park and walk. I also have a Honda Jazz which used to be owned by a pensioner and has acquired many battle scars. I park that one anywhere I want People do not park alongside it.So I suggest you get a cheap run around and use your pride and joy sparingly. Had you a battered Honda Jazz like mine you would have gone in through the rear hatch and as a parting gesture merely opened your own door against the Skoda using your strong muscles built up in the gym leaving a large dent in the Skoda's door.

Hi mate, my daily run around is a Honda Civic (fantastic car). The Z4 is typically fine at the gym. Just today some twit well yeah...raymond.harper wrote:Is it not a mystery why people go the gym and park as close to the entrance as possible? My own 14 year old Z4 has an almost flawless body. If I didnt drive the Z4 to the gym, it wouldnt really get driven much at all.
I see what your saying about parking at the far corners of the car park, but at the same time its rather disheartining that these are the measures we have to go to, to keep our cars scratch/dent free.

People will go out of their way to maliciously damage your car if you are taking up 2 spaces. People can be twats.flybobbie wrote:I always park over two spaces..***k everyone else. One day they will be D**D.
