It was a lot easier and quicker than I expected. There's a decent video on YouTube (albeit in German) that shows a guy removing the grilles that I followed. Secret is knowing where the clips are located and gently pushing them up with the tip of your finger. When you remove the plastic housing you can slide your arm down beneath the radiator and grille if it's slim enough.
