You should have no problems getting 500bhp with upgraded turbos using 93 octane fuel. The limitation then comes with octane as we don't have access to ethanol fuels.

Which turbos have you gone for?

I'm over 400bhp at the moment but tempted to grab some DPs and push it a little harder. I've just ordered a pair of 275 Michelin PS4S for the rear so that'll be a load more grip available, the next step logically is more power :driving:

Ooh, also interested in the turbos you've gone for. Just when I thought my wallet was safe...

How much power can the DCT box realistically handle guys?

The DCT is the most robust transmission that BMW pair with the N54 engine. I've seen people running north of 600bhp without issues if the car is tuned correctly.

If you have a piggyback like the JB4 or use a tuner who doesn't know what he's doing then you could see slip before you even hit 400bhp.

I've gone for mmp turbos (TD04HL-19T), no idea when they will arrive so will more than likely shove on the IC & DPs and use the next MHD increment to have some fun till they arrive :)

should I consider different plugs too?

35is, Tuning Update

Watching thread with interest. I was about to start tuning the 35iS but then I bought a place, had to buy all the furniture and had to buy a Doblo too, so all my fun money disappeared...

On my wishlist are PS4S tyres, my PSS are hard as nails and I can't put the power down, then FMIC and DCI. I have MHD but haven't flashed it yet. I occasionally get a misfire so I think a coil might be on the way out, partly why I haven't bothered to put MHD on because I suspect it will bitch as soon as I get close to 400 hp. I'm driving back to the UK again this summer and I want to put on the map before I leave ... I'll also get walnut blasting done as it's on 37k now.

Willgill, interested in the turbo upgrade results - a lot of people bitching on n54tech about aftermarket turbos - many people have gone single for reliability and power.

If your car is more than 4 years old I would just get 6 new coils and be done with it. If you replace one at a time you will always have a nagging feeling that a misfire is around the corner.
