I doubt that the rims are any different to be honest, other than the BBS rim having move bead area and shoulder than the originals.
In addition given that there are photos on the web of failed RFT tyres that have only the sidewall in place.
Do you have any empirical information on this or is it just a hunch?

As I mentioned, it's to keep the runflat tyre in place on the rim after it's deflated

answering your question. The large Alloy wheel dealer in the UK also offers these wheels fitted with the RE050A RFT tyre as an option. I have now written to BBS to get a definitive statement from the regarding the use of their wheels and RFT tyres.
