My 28i has the same breaks as the 35i, but thinking about implementing a BBK - not just for show - but for improved breaking.
*Change discs too Tarox Sport Japan Brake Discs
*Upgrade to 35is rotas - and upgrade discs
*MP BBK kit from E92
*Third Party BBK kit
Has anyone implemented such an upgrade?
And feedback would be appreciated

Upgrading to the 35i brakes would probably be the easiest solution and offers the best OEM upgrade path without any problems with the e-brake.

I didn't think you could put 35i discs and calipers on the 28i as the hubs are a different size? Also I thought the 35i and 35is had the same brakes thus you've got your upgrade size if you do have the bigger discs and calipers. I'm probably wrong though.

You're correct about the 35i/is brakes. I don't know about hub sizes though.john-e89 wrote:I didn't think you could put 35i discs and calipers on the 28i as the hubs are a different size? I think in the US market they put crappy brakes on the 35i, but the rest of the world gets the same higher spec brakes on both models.
The stock 35i/is brakes are great for the road but can imagine them overheating pretty fast on the track.

I seem to remember looking into putting the 35's calipers on a 28i before I bought my 35 as I'd assumed BMW would use the same hubs, thus caliper bolt spacing, on the entire E89 range, but the information I got was that the hubs were smaller on all E89's as opposed to the the two 35's, hence my confusion as Twin Turbo knows his stuff so I'm guessing I got the wrong information.R.E92 wrote:You're correct about the 35i/is brakes. Would the D2's stand up to your regular track work though, or are they a blingy street caliper for show cars? Perhaps Brembo, AP etc, are overpriced in terms of what they are but on track they'll stand the test of time.

Best p&p upgrades for the "small" Z4-engine types:
1. 35i or 335i brakes with 348 mm (discs and calipers) - fit p&p - good, but used ones at eBay for 500 Euro. Difference: Z4 35i has lighter discs compared to the 335i.
2. BMW performance or sport brakes from 3 and 4 F series with 370 mm discs and 4piston-calipers - fit p&p - NEW ones for approx. 1.300 Euro to 1.600 Euro at eBay.
