Morning everyone,

I've been trawling the net for a while now looking for an 'upgrade' to my 54 plate E85 3.0i and seen this. I want to go with another 3 litre and in silver. My preference would be a manual but l could live with an automatic for the right car. There really isn't a lot of choice out there.

http://www.mini-direct.co.uk/used-cars/ ... 9157790687

It was up for 20k for a long time and was clearly too expensive but a bit better priced now at 18,850? Still too much? Auto trader valuation says it's right at a dealer price. Anyone got any thoughts? Know anything about the car?

Thanks in advance.

For what its worth, i think that is very expensive and over priced for a 5 1/2 year old car. Maybe if it was a BMW dealer with the AUC warranty it would be close, the WBAC valuation for it is just over £13000 which gives an indication of the margin the dealer probably has in it. The really low miles isn't necessarily a great thing either in my view. 1500 miles a year is not much at all.

There is a white ( I know its not silver!) 3.0 M Sport at BMW Kings Lynn for just under £17000....... i would prefer that if it were me....

As an alternative to We buy any car you could use https://www.vauxhall.co.uk/offers-finan ... y-car.html
to give you a CAP valuation of the vehicle if you don have access to trade values through another source.

I do have to agree with what others have said, it seems pricey but I suppose it goes back to how much of a premium to you an ultra low mileage is.

I still think it's too expensive. The 9k miles is nice, but so is a 30k car and therefore it wouldn't be worth any more money to me. £17k would be what I'd want it for but if it's just right for you, you pay what you need to. I first wanted a manual but after trying an auto I was sold, its a cracking gearbox

Have you thought of buying privately, this looks like a cracking car although 1 year older is very highly specced and £3k less

I personally think that for the kind of money you are willing to pay, you can get a nicely specced 35i low miles, I know there are not many around but patience is a virtue

I initially wanted a 3.0 and I tried a few but just out of curiosity I tested the 35i (as it was way out of my budget) and oh boooyyy !!! as soon as I heard that engine roar I told the seller that it was mine and knew that I would have to find the cash for it (as I don't usually do finance on cars) !!!

The 35i is an enthusiasts car so they are generally loved which means that I would consider buying privately (which is what I've done)

I would highly advise you to try the 35i/is before taking the plunge

have you considered this one from a forum member ? viewtopic.php?f=41&t=93732

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess l keep looking l do fancy the 35is but they seem to be rarer than hens teeth in silver. I'd have no choice with the auto box but comprises have to be made sometimes.....

The 7-speed DCT box is no compromise. It's much better than manual.

Lots of enthusiasts think of gear changing as part of the fun of driving a sporty car, even if dct can change gears faster than a human can, it's still taking something away from the experience for them.

I wanted a manual when I was in the market, I never tried the DCT. Now that I have tried the DCT in a 28i I soooo wish I went for an auto. So I certainly think that going for the DCT would be on the plus side :)
