The "17" may well be a/the significant factor.csm180 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2017 7:44 pm Having just got an e89 with 17 runflats the ride is so much more comfortable than my e85 with 18 non runflats. Suspension and profile definately make a huge difference. The move from runflats in the e85 did make a difference but I would not say it made it comfortable ( well that is what swmbo would tell you.)

Switching TO RFT?
I have found that the 19" wheels are the biggest cause of harshness. If you have 17' or 18" the RFTs will be ok. because of the higher profile sidewall. There are a lot of tests results and charts on the Tire Rack website. The Bridgestone Duralast RFT come out very well for ride and tread life. They are much better than they were when they first were introduced. Depending on condition they can sometimes be repaired. My experience has been with USA cars and tires so that could be a variable and "ride" is a very subjective term.

I have an E89 with 17" Bridgestone RFT's and the difference between mine and my wife's ex E89 Zed with 19" Bridgestone RFT's is mine is a significantly better ride. Maybe £14:50 not wasted after allcsm180 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2017 7:44 pm Having just got an e89 with 17 runflats the ride is so much more comfortable than my e85 with 18 non runflats. Switching TO RFT?
Well it must be true then!!
But getting back to topic, before I got my 1st Z4 on 18" RFT Bridgestones I had a 123d on 17" RFT Pirellis. I know a 1 Series (even on M-Sport suspension) isn't that comparable to a Z4 Sport, but the Pirellis never gave me a problem with ride although but they did tramline a bit when they got worn and/or the pressure dropped!
But the Bridgestone RFTs are pretty horrible - their only saving grace is that they seem to have a long life! Or is that just to prolong our misery?
When my Bridgestones are worn out I think I will be looking for better quality RFTs, even if only from a convenience point of view (bit like the OP).

Maybe, but at the end of the day do you want to look at it or actually use it?

I had a set of 17" loan wheels on Michelins on my 911 for a week. Unsurprisingly, the steering felt lighter and the car seemed to turn in quicker. I assumed this was because of the size. Those more knowledgeable told me that weight was a significant factor, too.

I'd pay triple the price for top notch non run flats over run flats, it's that simple. My E89 on MPSS's is not the same car it was.Kingfisher wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2017 5:00 pm How many people convince themselves that non runflats are better when they see the price of runflats? ...
