You can programme it to shut on the key.

Look out on ebay for a smartop. I got one last week for 185. Does one touch closing on the roof and windows and a few other bits. Better than anything carly etc can offer.

I was never able to do it after the BMW security upgrade. I bought a Smarttop Module - I iked it so much I swapped it into the new Zed. In my opinion, It's how the car should have left the factory.

Yup it's normal. You can open on the key as standard but not close it.

Why not use your old account and change the details to show your new Zed. Plus list your old one :?

The prevention of the closure facility is deep in the softeware - it wasn't able to be seen by the dealer - he told me it's buried very deeply and he could not access it.

All E89s should allow you to lower the roof via the key fob assuming:
- Boot tray is locked
- No obstacles to the mechanism
- Battery holding enough juice.

If you've one that has the optional comfort access (being able to unlock and start the car with just the key in your pocket) you gain the power to raise the roof via the key as well. I think I've heard somewhere that you can't raise from the keyfob for safety reasons, but that doesn't explain why you can do it with comfort access.

In order to raise the roof using the key on a non-comfort-access equipped E89 you're going to need a third party solution like a Smartop.

Yep that's a option problem was I couldn't remember my login when I came back so created a new log in.

Comfort access or not - im sure none of them close without the button in the car being pressed - I was told that a child had his fingers trapped when the roof Assy closed on him.

Mine doesn't need the button in the car pressed, it closes off the remote with a smarttop module fitted

I had no idea you could open the roof with the fob! How do you do that then? Not sure I need to but I suppose it looks good. My fob has to be inserted in the dashboard slot to make anything work so maybe later cars don't have this facility ... :?
