Plastic cover sticking up!?
Sorry, no idea how to entitle this thread!
I've just noticed that with the roof up there seems to be a plastic cover sticking up. You can see it through the rear screen from the outside.
Is this normal!? Never noticed it before and now it's bothering me!!

Yes, I think you mean the sprung covers that the roof hinge sits under, when the roof is up they lift to let the hinge do its thing

Don't trust him, Steve! He's pulling your leg. No, the flaps certainly shouldn't stay up.
This means a trip to your local dealership, where they'll re-programme the roof mechanism. Some do it for free, others charge £40 or £50 + VAT. (Just don't let Rob near it.)
While they're at it, ask them if they'll check the alignment of the external and internal 'propellor' badges.

Just stand and watch the roof go up/down. You will then see how the flaps work. All normal.SteveSmith wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2017 4:23 pm Sorry, no idea how to entitle this thread!

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

You called my dear? What's the matter? 2 completely different answers were given, I think it's acceptable to question again is it not?

It's normal. The flaps cover the roof mech when it's down and move up to accommodate the mech when it's up. That or you'd have a hole in the rear deck when the roof was down.

Buster only knows about tyres so his answer was obviously wrong

Steve, what they're not telling you is that you can 'de-flap' your car and, roof up or down, it'll look much better.

Not sure if you are being serious or not.
If you remove the flaps in question when the roof is down there will be large holes in the cover.
How can this look much better?

Well, to begin with it looks much better without the silly flaps sticking up in the window (that worried Steve and other new owners).

Hi Buster, so have you had those sprung flaps removed from your e89 then? Pictures as evidence please or it didn't happen
