Left fender BMW emblem replacement

Post by mi24pilot » Thu May 11, 2017 3:56 pm

I have a 2009 Z4 (E89) and the BMW decal portion of the emblem has fallen off. I bought a replacement and it is the entire emblem, with 3 prong backing. Can someone tell me how to replace the entire emblem? I've seen a few videos on trunk and hood replacements and they are different. Does the E89 version emblem have backing grommets or nuts that hold it in place or is it just snapped on? The replacement emblem prongs do not have any threads on them. Two side prongs are longer than the top, center prong.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Left fender BMW emblem replacement

Hi, I asked this question a couple of weeks ago as mine has corroded and I have replacement waiting to go on,to the best of my knowledge the side badges just push into grommits and are held on by double sided tape, whilst the bonnet badge (which is the same badge) is held on by a couple of self tapping nuts

Thanks...wasn't sure how it was fixed on. Hopefully, the old one will pry off without damaging the grommets.

Prying usually damages something, doesn't it?

I dont suppose you could ask a friendly dealer how to remove and attach?
Realoem shows grommets for the side badges but does not say how many and nuts for the front badge.

Hi Tim done mine, I had a look in the wing with an endoscope I have and confirmed no nuts so I surrounded the badge with masking tape and stuck a credit card at the back of the badge to lever against and apart from snapping a lug off it was a piece if Cake

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

When you see the amount of dirt that gets caught behind these there should be a better way of attaching them.
