Can the 2,5 engine be tunned? (without supercharging etc...)
To what extend?

Cheers :driving:

in a word, no.

I had my facelift 2.5i remapped (was 177bhp to start with) made a cock hair of difference.

The M54 (192BHP) is pretty highly strung from the factory so without forced induction your pissing in the wind.
18 Z4s owned to date.

Current: 2.5i Titan silver

Daily driver: 480bhp M140i Shadow edition.

Diff suspension and brakes are money better spent.
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

Yeah, it might even be 217bhp which was what i had in my 325i e92. This is the same engine i had in the E85 Z4 with 177bhp. the 204/217bhp have a different inlet manifold on so , as per the M54, it is pretty much at its peak already.

So the real question is...

if I move on from my 2.0 e85... (I would like more power, terrific car but...)
Should I go for the 6pot 2,5 204 bhp
or the 2,0 turbo 240bhp?

Is the 2,5 "slow" as the 2,0 due to weight?

Confused... :|

I've had my 2.5 for a couple of months now, and although it's not a fast car it's not slow either (0-60 in 6.6 secs). It depends what you want from the car?

The 6 cylinders do sound great when you give it some beans though! :driving:

You could get the 2litre turbo & map it to almost 300bhp if you want power :driving:

id go for the 2.0 4 pot turbo - the 23i is a bit lacklusture in terms of performance, especially coming from a 2.0i E85, you wont notice much performance difference, due to the extra weight

Just IMO of course!
